TransTaalKinderen
Urban ExpoExpositie van levensgrote deurportretten van kindvertalers en hun families
The socially engaged art collective Moving Arts Project made a series of photo’s portraying children who translate for their parents. These kids are a mediator between two different worlds. The life-size portraits are on show during the exposition ‘TransTaalKinderen’.
The exhibition has its opening in the Tolhuistuin on Friday. There will be a guided tour and a meetup for all language professionals of Amsterdam. During the tour, the extraordinary qualities of the child translator will be highlighted. This conveys the discrepancy between the interests of families and the expectations of our society. Language experts will explain how this works out in daily life. The life-size portraits were taking in the doorways of their homes. Some of the portraits are brought to life theatrically.
